BAND NEWS

WELCOME TO THE HOME OF SEVEN MINUTE BENDER! If you are new to this site and our band, thank you for stopping by. We are a band from North Carolina that has been together, in various forms, for about 10 years now. Whenever we get the chance, we have fun showcasing our repertoire of sometimes bizarre-sounding original material. At this time, we are excited to have several shows coming up with our original lineup! Feel free to browse our website, but you should know that some pages on this site are pretty old, and some info may be outdated (we are in the process of correcting that... most importantly, the info on the SHOWS page is up to date.) You can also check out our myspace page, which has some different songs posted: www.myspace.com/sevenminutebender

"I always thought that music had no boundaries, no limits to where it could grow and go, no restrictions on its creativity. Good music is good no matter what kind of music it is. And I always hated categories. Always. Never thought it had any place in music."

despite our current 'hiatus', the bender has still received some recent favorable press. these are some exerpts from a review of one of our shows by danyul costin, of www.ind-music.com (check out the site for the full write-up):

"Seven Minute Bender, one of Raleigh, NC's tightest high impact groups, is definitely worth a night out. The energy is chaotic to say the least and inspiring at times."
"One might say that the sound is terribly original. It is certainly a prime color, and make no mistake, these guys hit hard. They make you wonder what's coming down the pipe every measure of the way. I had an opportunity to see them live and it was an amazing performance."
"Charlie's guitar was right on with every wicked effect mesmerizing the crowd...even Dean Ween would be proud."
"It goes without saying that Dave's bass playing was insane as always. The guy is an animal on stage. You can see the bass turn to puddy in his fingers as he pounds the strings with a vigor that most musicians just don't have anymore."

thanks for the kind words, danyul. hopefully we'll be back playing again soon.

check out this write-up for our show last night at king's, from this week's 'independent':

What happens when jazz kids forget that Primus is sort of dorky and start listening to June of '44? A huge, fucked up, totally awesome mess, known to Triangle folk as Seven Minute Bender. Melting genres with the best of 'em, SMB throw wiggling bass lines and spoken word vocals at broken time-signatures and Nintendo song structures. It's jammy, it's psychy, and for some reason, it actually works. Just ask WKNC, this show's loving sponsor. 10:30 p.m. --RM
